Description from the seller
Beautiful Art Deco plateel jug from Ären Plateel – Made in Belgium. A characterful and colorful object that immediately draws the eye and fits perfectly within a collection of Belgian or European Art Deco ceramics.
The jug features an elegant, rounded belly and a bold black pouring spout and handle that beautifully contrast with the richly painted body. The decoration consists of organic, almost abstract flower forms in warm tones of ochre, brick orange, green, cream and deep cobalt blue. The gentle color transitions and the matte-gloss glaze give the piece a pronounced interwar look.
Underside marked with:
Made in Belgium – C.B. – Ären Plateel – model 3
This confirms the origin and makes the piece attractive for collectors of Belgian plateel and Art Deco ceramics.
Condition: very good antique condition with light signs of use appropriate to the age. No cracks or restorations visible.
Period: circa 1920–1930.
Material: glazed earthenware / plateel.
Provenance: Belgium.
A particularly decorative object for interior, collection or design enthusiast – both as a standalone piece and in combination with other plateel items a real eye-catcher.
