Description from the seller
Set of 2 hand-carved wooden ducks – Northern Shoveler & Mallard – 20th century
Beautiful set of two hand-carved and hand-painted wooden ducks, executed in the style of traditional North American duck decoys.
The top duck portrays a Northern Shoveler, recognizable by the broader, spoon-shaped bill.
The second duck is modeled on a Mallard with a more classical head and bill shape.
Both specimens are made from solid wood and richly endowed with carved wing and feather details. The warm, dark paintwork and visible gouges and cutting marks give the piece an authentic, artisanal character.
Probably produced in the second half of the 20th century (circa 1960–1990). The craftsmanship points more to decorative woodcarving than to heavily used hunting decoys.
Specifications:
Material: solid wood
Technique: hand-carved and hand-painted
Depiction: Northern Shoveler and Mallard (stylized)
Period: second half of the 20th century
Total weight: approx. 1176 grams
Condition: good vintage condition with light signs of use consistent with age
A atmospheric set for lovers of folk art, hunting decor, or rustic interior pieces.
