Art Nouveau seal stamp with a conical brown goldstone grip, set in a silver mount with flowing Victorian leaf motifs, the seal plate engraved with an intertwined monogram “VCA”, dating to c. 1890–1900, made in the United Kingdom from .835 silver, with dimensions 7 × 2 cm and a weight of 23 g, in good used condition with small signs of aging and spotting.
Description from the seller
Art Nouveau lacquer seal stamp with a conical handle made of brown goldstone (aventurine glass), recognizable by the fine copper-colored glints in the material. The handle is mounted in a silver mount with flowing, organic foliate motifs that are characteristic of the Art Nouveau / Jugendstil style around the turn of the century. The stamp plate is engraved with an intertwined monogram “VCA,” executed in a classic late-Victorian engraving style with the letters decoratively interwoven.
The object was used to press seals on correspondence or documents and was often ordered as a personal desk accessory for private or business letters. The seal is still in its original presentation case with satin and velvet interior, indicating that the piece was originally sold as a luxury gift or jewelry item. The combination of goldstone, a silver Art Nouveau mount, and a personal monogram makes this a distinctive desk piece from the period around 1890/1900.
Silver has been tested, not assayed. (.835 silver)
