Seven issues of the Automobilia car magazine, genuine originals in very good condition, including five Salon de l’auto specials (1946, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1951), plus issue 586 July–August 1956 on motorsport and issue 486 December 1946 about small constructors.
Description from the seller
I propose 7 issues of the magazine "Automobilia", 5 Special issues Auto Show 1946, 1947, 1948, 1949 and 1951, to which I add No. 586 July-August 1956, a special issue on car racing, and No. 486 of December 1946, devoted to the small manufacturers of the 1946 Show with on the cover the Georges Irat, which will unfortunately never be marketed.
The magazine "Automobilia" appeared on February 1, 1917 under the name "L'automobile aux armées" which it kept until issue 39 of Christmas 1918, to become "Automobilia" from No. 40 of January 15, 1919, published biweekly; it became monthly in 1931 and experienced, at the start of the Second World War, sporadic publication, before resuming a monthly rhythm from 1941, then bimonthly from 1954 to the final issue of November-December 1956, No. 588.
In 1957, it was taken over by the magazine "Moteurs", just like its great rival "La Vie Automobile" (1903-1956), whose last issue was December 1956.
The last issue before the war was No. 427, August-September 1939. The magazine reappeared with No. 428 in February under the name "L'Automobile aux armées", until No. 432 in June 1940, during the Phoney War, and resumed its monthly rhythm, with No. 433 of August 1941 until its disappearance in December 1956.
The 7 proposed numbers are:
1/ No. 486 December 1948: devoted to the small manufacturers of the 1946 Show with on the cover the Georges Irat, which will unfortunately never be commercialized.
2/ No. 586 July-August 1956: a special issue on car racing, with a broad history on the subject. It is the penultimate but one, as the magazine ceased publication after No. 588 in November-December 1956.
3/ Auto Show Special 1946: this issue will be the first of the 5 non-numbered Auto Show Special editions published from 1946 to 1950, containing more than 80 pages.
4/ Auto Show Special 1947, containing more than 100 pages.
5/ Auto Show Special 1948, containing more than 90 pages.
6/ Auto Show Special 1949, containing 94 pages.
7/ Auto Show Special 1951 No. 544, containing 94 pages.
The Auto Show Special issues published from 1946 to 1950 are the most complete of all the French automotive press of the era and, above all, the rarest, not included in subscriptions.
This batch of nearly unobtainable issues will be of immense interest to historians and discerning enthusiasts.
