Description from the seller
Prestigious Crystal Service "Marlowe Gold" – Theresienthal Manufactory (Germany, circa 1950-1960)
Refined mid-century modern-era dining collection, produced by the historic Kristallglasmanufaktur Theresienthal (Bavaria), an excellence-manufacture founded in 1836 under the patronage of King Ludwig I and renowned for supplying the most important European royal courts. This service belongs to the elite line "Marlowe", presented in the sophisticated color variant "Smoke" (Fumé), a warm gray-brown shade that embodies the aristocratic elegance of the 1950s and 1960s. Each piece is a masterpiece of artisanal craftsmanship: the body, in fine mouth-blown lead crystal, is crowned by a sumptuous band in 24-karat gold, enriched by an ornamental frieze with vegetal and geometric motifs finely engraved by acid. The design is distinguished by the visual contrast between the colored bowl and the transparent crystal stem, the latter hand-finished with a diamond-cut profile that guarantees superior geometric brilliance and a perfectly balanced grip.
The service, of exceptional completeness and rarity for its condition, consists of 26 pieces as follows:
1 Bottle (Decanter) H 23 cm
1 monumental carafe with spout finished in gold; H 20.5 cm x 14 x 12 mouth/base 10.8 cm
6 Water goblets (large size); H 14.7
6 Wine goblets (medium size); H 13 cm
6 Champagne coupes with a flared design; H 12.5 cm
6 Amaro/liquor goblets (small size) H 10.5 cm
This complete set represents not only a object of extreme luxury, but a collectible investment of great prominence in the panorama of German art glass. A unique opportunity to acquire a piece of Bavarian regal design history in excellent condition.
