Description from the seller
A rare, splendid and imposing solid bronze candlestick from the mid-1800s to early 1900s, part of the furnishings of the family palace chapel.
The base is tripod-shaped and presents three wide curved volutes 10 cm apart from one another and 10 cm high, at whose center the candlestick is screwed, consisting of the circular base in the shape of a vase 7 cm wide and 10 cm high that starts broad and tapers at the terminal part. Here it is connected to an inverted-cone-shaped base from which the candlestick rises, all worked with parallel lines. It is 4 cm wide and 3 cm high. From here begins a modification that represents another vase, this time narrow at the base, which merges with the base and widens at the top.
On this rests another inverted cone with the wider base that fits perfectly with the underside and tapers to the top.
It is 7 cm high and this part is also entirely worked with two bands of parallel lines incised in the bronze. From here the stem of the candlestick rises to 21 cm, starting wide and narrowing at the terminal part. This part is also characterized by three turns worked with incised oblique lines.
At the top a cylinder on which rests the wide drip plate for the wax, 7 cm wide, on which rests the candlestick holder, also this with the same workmanship, 7 cm high.
An exquisitely worked candlestick, to give it movement, elegance and sobriety unlike the smooth fluted column ones.
Splendid is the chasing, made up of bands worked with vertical lines. It is rare to find a candlestick 60 cm tall because the common ones are the small 40 cm ones.
It was part of the family chapel furnishings.
It presents itself in good condition regarding the bronze, without dents or missing parts, with the original patina intentionally left with the marks of time. Polishing brings out a bright bronze.
I do not like bright brass, bronze, or silver, but I love the original antique patina; unlike others I have sold and kept at home and polished, I have left this one original with the patina developed over the years as if it were a piece of furniture to be polished.
I must say that this gives it greater charm because it highlights its centuries. Whoever buys it will decide whether to keep it as is or have it cleaned, making the bronze shine.
An imposing candlestick with its own personality and multiple uses.
My ancestors placed great importance on the home; for them it was the business card, and they always loved renewing and changing objects according to the style of the times. For this reason I found many very similar objects.
Given the large number of objects I inherited, I decided to sell some to give them new life.
Owing to its linear shape, it lends itself to being used in a modern or antique house, also transformable into a lamp with the addition of a lampshade that gives it importance or as a furnishing object with a candle.
A candlestick characterized by a geometric pattern with wide and narrow parts which, as I already said, differentiates it from common wooden ones clad in brass or tripod bases with a straight column.
A candlestick that will enrich the spot where you place it.
For shipping I use private couriers and not the post office, because the object arrives sooner and has double-wrapping and communication is easier. The candlestick is tall, thus it generates volume.
Shipping costs vary depending on the buyer’s residence, Europe Zone 1 or 2 such as the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Eastern countries like Norway, Malta, Cyprus, and the rest of the world.
Customs duties will be charged to the buyer.
