Set of 3 blue earthenware mid-century modern Dutch studio pottery vases from the 1960s, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Set of 3 Modernist Mid-Century Studio Pottery vases, signed – Netherlands, 1960s
In excellent condition – No reserve.
A powerful set of three Modernist Mid-Century studio pottery vases from the Netherlands, executed in heavy stoneware with strong architectural, sculptural forms. The geometric block-shaped bodies are finished with expressive volcanic “fat lava” glazes in deep turquoise-blue and warm ochre-yellow tones, creating a bold Brutalist presence and strong visual impact.
One of the vases is incised “Holland” on the base, confirming Dutch studio production. These are authentic handmade studio ceramics, not factory mass production, created in the spirit of European modernism where form, texture and material expression take precedence over ornament.

In the early post-war period, Dutch studio potters embraced modernist principles: geometric abstraction, honest material expression, and sculptural form. Influenced by Scandinavian modernism and the emerging Brutalist aesthetic, these atelier-made vessels were conceived as autonomous design objects. This rare signed set is a strong and authentic example of Dutch modernist studio ceramics and highly attractive to collectors of Mid-Century Modern, Brutalist, and Fat Lava design.
Carefully packed and professionally shipped.
