Description from the seller

Natural Chrysocolla Pendant – Peru – 925 Silver – 'Buche' Hinged Clasp – Old Stock Unworn

1. General description

Natural chrysocolla pendant mounted in 925 silver (92.5% purity) with an articulated 'buche' clasp, a more expensive and less common system that improves the drop, prevents twisting, and allows thicker chains.

Not industrial jewelry.

It is authentic mineral with structure and character.

Old stock unused.

2. Measurements and weight

Measurements: 4 × 2.8 × 0.8 cm

Total weight: 18 g

Balanced proportion between mineral and silver.

Weight coherent with size and metal presence.

3. Mineral identification

Mineral: Chrysocolla
Common commercial origin: Peru
Hydrated copper silicate responsible for the intense blue-green tones.

4. Chemical formula

(Cu,Al)₂H₂Si₂O₅(OH)₄·nH₂O

Natural material.

5. Hardness and cabochon presentation

Approximate hardness: 2.5–3.5 Mohs.

Chrysocolla is presented as a cabochon to respect the mineral’s nature.

Does not attempt to mimic a faceted gemstone.

Shows what it is.

6. Visual reading

Oil-blue and deep green tones with natural transitions.

Internal structure non-uniform, typical of secondary copper formation.

Nature does not work in series.

7. 925 silver setting

925 stamp visible.
(925 = 92.5% pure silver, international standard).

Bezel-type frame that protects the cabochon and adds solidity.

8. 'Buche' clasp – Quality indicator

The hinged 'buche' clasp:
• Flexible
• Improves the drop
• Reduces twisting
• More expensive to manufacture due to manual work

Many manufacturers omit it to cut production costs.

Here it is kept as a quality differentiator.

9. Authenticity and tests performed

• 925 stamp verified
• Weight confirmed: 18 g
• In-house gemological check (not certificate)
• Visual review with magnifying loupe
• Structural and mineralogical coherence

No external certificate included.
Yes, in-house analysis and verification included.

10. Condition

Very good condition.
Silver with excellent presence.
Solid and balanced piece.

11. Scarcity and market

Authentic minerals are being replaced in the market by treated or synthetic materials.

Clear examples:
Larimar (Dominican Republic, limited production and highly forged).
Malachite (often imitated with resins).
Turquoise (high percentage stabilized or recollected).

Natural chrysocolla, carefully selected and mounted in 925 silver, is becoming rarer in this artisanal format.
Authentic pieces, especially mounted in 925 silver with quality clasps, strengthen collector interest and potential value appreciation.

12. Human note

Behind every mineral there is extraction, selection, and manual labor.
Respect for that process is part of the piece’s value.

13. Care and conservation

Avoid blows and direct perfumes.
Clean the silver with a non-abrasive cloth specifically designed for silver without touching the mineral.
Store separately from other pieces.
Choosing an authentic piece is not just a purchase; it is a conscious decision that combines beauty, discernment, and real value.
