Description from the seller

Approximately 1900, 21x27 cm.
"The Blind Man" (L'aveugle), a very beautiful portrait by Eugène Michel (late 19th / early 20th century).
A superb gelatin silver print, in very good condition, free (not mounted, rare), with excellent preservation of contrasts, gray tones, and levels of detail.
Labeled in the negative and signed by a damp stamp on the back.

Eugène Michel was active in North Africa at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th, where he worked as both photographer and publisher. His photographs blend urban scenes, landscapes, and portraits of so‑called “types,” with particular attention to lighting contrasts and architectural textures. At the crossroads of documentary and commercial publishing, his work contributes to the construction of a visual imagination of the Maghreb intended for a European audience.

Deserves framing.
Small PR conservatoire, not to be missed.

Will be shipped with its sleeve and its neutral pH cardboard backing (ideal for a collection kept in good conditions).
