Description from the seller

Circa 1880, 21x27 cm.
"La danse du ventre", a very beautiful portrait of a group of musicians and a dancer in Cairo, by Gabriel Lekegian (late 19th century).
Superb albumen print from the period in very good condition, loose (not mounted, rare), and a very beautiful preservation of contrasts, gray tones and levels of detail.
Labeled and signed in the negative.

Gabriel Lekegian was an active photographer in Cairo at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Of Armenian origin, he developed an important photographic and editorial workshop, distributing portraits, street scenes and monumental views of Egypt to an international clientele.
His work is distinguished by precise framing, great sharpness and particular attention to architectures and human figures, between careful documentation and a sense of staging.

Deserves framing.
Petit PR conservatoire, not to be missed.

Will be shipped with its sleeve and its cardboard support on neutral pH (ideal for a collection in good condition).
