Description from the seller

Impressive Large Ammonite Fossil – Perisphinctes sp. – Jurassic – Madagascar

Magnificent and massive fossil ammonite identified as Perisphinctes sp., originating from Madagascar and dating to the Jurassic period.

This exceptional specimen displays the classic ribbed spiral morphology characteristic of the genus, with beautifully defined whorls and strong radial ribbing extending across the entire shell. The internal spiral structure is clearly visible and well preserved, creating remarkable depth and three-dimensional impact.

Weighing an impressive 19.3 kg, this ammonite stands out for its substantial size and powerful visual presence. The natural matrix exhibits warm earthy tones ranging from cream and beige to ochre, brown, and soft grey, enhancing the fossil’s sculptural quality. The organic mineralization and surface texture add further authenticity and aesthetic appeal.

The specimen has been professionally prepared to highlight the spiral geometry while preserving its natural character. It is presented on a metal display stand (included), allowing secure vertical exhibition and making it ideal as a statement piece in a fossil collection, cabinet of curiosities, office, or refined interior setting.

A striking and substantial example of prehistoric marine life — both scientifically significant and highly decorative.

The piece will be carefully packed and shipped with tracking.
