Description from the seller

Circa 1870/80, 19x24 cm.
"Mauresques dans leur intérieur", a very beautiful family portrait (women) by Hippolyte Arnoux (late 19th century).
superb albumen print from the period in very good condition, free (not mounted, rare), and a very nice preservation of contrasts, grayscale tones and levels of detail.
Labeled and signed in the negative.

Hippolyte Arnoux was a photographer active in Egypt and North Africa in the second half of the 19th century. Based in Cairo, he develops a vast catalog of views, monuments and portraits of local "types" distributed to travelers and European collectors. His images, often carefully numbered and labeled in the negative, testify to a structured and commercial production, but also to a real sense of framing and light.

Deserves framing.
Petit PR conservatoire, not to be missed.

Will be shipped with its sleeve and its neutral pH cardboard support (ideal for a collection in good condition).
