Remarkable antique Dutch tile from the Netherlands, mid-17th century.
With the previously rare depiction of a spouting whale, where the water from the spout is clearly visible.

Scene of a whale surfacing to breathe, and water spouting from its blowhole.
With little spider motifs in the corners.
Made of Delft Blue, earthenware, glazed.

Dimensions: 12.9 cm long x 12.9 cm wide x 0.8 cm thick
Weight: 256 g
Good condition, light signs of wear
Origin: Netherlands, circa 1650
