Description from the seller
From a private collection offered:
Exceptionally beautiful and functioning Zeiss Ikon Contessa LK camera.
Production period 1963 - 1965.
This is a rangefinder camera.
The viewfinder and taking lens are both in good condition.
Characteristic of the Zeiss Ikon Contessa LK are the overall quality, the compact and sturdy construction and the high-quality lens: the Carl Zeiss Tessar 2.8/50 (four elements in three groups). Sharpness, contrast and image rendition are of remarkable level and characteristic for this type of lens. Especially with black-and-white film, surprising results can be achieved.
Smooth and play-free turning of the focusing/adjustment ring.
Pronto LK central shutter; shutter speeds from 1/15 to 1/500 second and B.
The shutter speeds have been tested visually and by ear. The shutter responds properly to the set times (with the exception of 1/15 second which seems a bit long to me). Given the age of the camera, accuracy cannot be guaranteed and must be determined experimentally (with film).
Film speed, shutter speeds and aperture are individually adjustable with the rings around the lens.
Cocking the shutter, with the cocking lever at the back of the camera, is linked to the film transport and operates smoothly and without hitch.
On the bottom of the camera there is the tripod socket, the film rewind crank, and on the side the lock for the hinged back.
The shutter release button on top works smoothly and is provided with threading for a cable release and a frame counter.
The camera has an built-in selenium light meter that still seems to work; the indicator on the camera and in the viewfinder responds to the amount of light. However, the accuracy of a selenium light meter of this age should be doubted. But with some experience this camera can still be used well even without a light meter.
Film format: 35 mm ("small format"); 36 negatives of 24 x 36 mm.
Dimensions of the camera: 12 x 9 x 7.5 cm
Weight: 640 grams.
The camera is supplied with the original Zeiss Ikon rubber lens hood and will be carefully packaged, registered, insured and traceable shipped."} }```
