James Dixon & Sons – Victorian egg boiler in silverplate – Sheffield, fine XIX century – complete with spirit burner and grid
Description
Elegant and rare English egg boiler in silverplate, produced by the renowned manufacturer James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield, as evidenced by the hallmark on the base.
The object consists of:
• oval body with a movable handle
• domed lid finely engraved with a geometric floral motif
• three-foot stand decorated in neoclassical style
• removable alcohol burner
• inner metal egg rack
The design is typically Victorian, with incised banding on the lid and shaped legs with stylized vegetal motifs.
