A ceramic vintage water or milk jug by Soesbergen Rijnsburg (Netherlands), with a stout belly, narrow neck and sturdy handle, measuring about 25 cm high, 20 cm in belly diameter and 10 cm across the foot, dating to 1960s–1970s and in good vintage condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
Characterful bulbous jug from the Dutch pottery Soesbergen from Rijnsburg.
This specific model is characterized by its strong, rounded belly, narrow neck and sturdily formed handle.
The visible turning marks and the warm brown tint emphasize the artisanal character of the piece.
This type of ceramic — often executed in heavy earthenware or stoneware — became particularly popular in Dutch households in the 1960s and 1970s. It was used as a water- or milk jug, but stood just as decoratively on the table or in the cabinet.
The robust form and natural appearance fit perfectly with the sober, functional living style of that period.
The underside is equipped with the factory stamp:
SOESBERGEN – RIJNSBURG
Soesbergen was known for sturdy, hand-turned everyday ceramics with a timeless and functional design.
A beautiful example of Dutch domestic ceramics from the second half of the 20th century.
Condition:
Good vintage condition.
No cracks or restorations visible.
Normal signs of use and light wear, appropriate to age.
Dimensions & Weight:
Height: 25 cm
Diameter belly: approx. 20 cm
Diameter base: 10 cm
Weight: 1.3 kg
The lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered mail, insured with a track-and-trace number.
Pickup by arrangement also possible.
