Unique gold weight - Asante - Ghana

Unique and rare form of a gold weight. Due to its rarity it is also museum-worthy. This is a unique piece of which no second specimen is known.
It depicts a body whose head and limbs have been severed.
Remains of arms are still visible on the torso; under the waist the phallus is recognizable.
Perhaps it is a warning not to break the law, for then the consequences are clear: beheading, amputation...
It can be stated with a fairly high degree of certainty that this concerns a punished slave.
There is, however, another meaning connected to the proverb "A proud slave is chosen and buried with the body of his master".
At the death of a king or chief, a slave was buried with him to serve in the afterworld. He was killed and beheaded.
