Sonora Excellence 304 radio, a 1953 model, in very good condition; 9 kg, 49 × 28 × 23 cm, one unit, no extras, tested and operational.
Description from the seller
Collectible radio produced in 1953 by Sonora of Paris.
This model belongs to the fortunate Excellence series from one of the most famous French radio manufacturers, renowned for its refined designs and the build quality of that era, and it is simply stunning, by day but especially in the dark—the visual effect when switched on is remarkable.
Six valves, four wavebands (PO-GO-OC-BE) plus Phono input. On/off-volume control, three-tone-color selector, tuning search and band change. Antenna for PO-GO bands with a rotatable drum controlled by a side command; small integrated antenna for OC-BE bands.
Glossy bakelite case without cracks or breaks; only a few small imperfections around the two screws at the lower corners of the front grille, perfect tuning scale.
The electronic part has recently been serviced. After sunset, when radio wave propagation is greater, I managed to receive programs on the PO-OC-BE bands from several countries where these old bands are still used. Good reception depends very much on the geographic area where the radio is used.
Unfortunately, antique radios are electrical devices that no longer conform to current safety standards. The buyer assumes full responsibility for the use and handling of the product.
Although it works during the test, it is listed as a collectible display item, with no warranty.
The numerous photographs are an integral part of the description.
Shipping with appropriate packaging and insurance.
