A large bronze quatrefoil jewellery box from France, circa 1900, measuring 30 x 14 x 20 cm and weighing 3.75 kg, lined in Bordeaux velour with four silvered bronze feet, an applied brass rose on the lid, a key but a non-functioning lock, and described in good condition with signs of ageing.
Description from the seller
From late 18th or early 19th century France comes this large and heavy quatrefoil bronze jewellery box. Lined in a lush Bordeaux rouge velour and standing on four silvered bronze feet, the lid decorated with an applied brass rose, this dinosaur of period metalwork is big enough to accommodate the jewels of a queen. Occasionally signed, though not in this case, these boxes are hard to find, and if you want evidence of this one's age then look no further than the hand-cut screw heads, so emblematic of the period. There is a key but sadly the lock no longer functions. Measuring a whopping 30x14x20cms and weighing 3750 grms it will arrive at your door securely packed and ready to store your treasures.
