The photographic book dedicated to the film Malèna by Giuseppe Tornatore, with images by the on-set photographer Sergio Strizzi, was published in 2000 on the occasion of the film's release. The main edition, titled Malèna: a film by Giuseppe Tornatore, collects the shots taken by Sergio Strizzi during the filming, capturing not only the atmosphere of 1940s Sicily but also Monica Bellucci's iconic performance.
The volume spans about 135 pages, composed mainly of full-page illustrations. It includes an introductory note from the director Giuseppe Tornatore. Another edition of the screenplay, published by Gremese, contains instead a note by Harvey Weinstein. Strizzi's photographs are famous for their "unintentional lightness" and the photographer's ability to be "invisible" on set, capturing moments of truth and psychological intensity.
