Very decorative and authentic coal scuttle from the Napoleon III period, manufactured in France in the second half of the 19th century (circa 1850–1880).

This cylindrical coal bin is made of black-lacquered sheet iron (toleware) and richly adorned with gold-colored floral motifs. The sloped lid is inlaid with a mother-of-pearl floral composition, giving the object a luxurious and characterful appearance.

On the front there is a nicely cast metal handle with a cherub ornament in high relief. At the back is the original carrying handle.
