The document comes from the archive of the Páez de Castillejo family. The Páez de Castillejo family was one of the most influential lineages of Córdoba nobility since the 14th century, notable for its rapid social ascent and political power. Its greatest legacy is the Palace of the Páez de Castillejo, a jewel of Spanish Renaissance whose façade was designed by Hernán Ruiz II. This building, located over the remains of the ancient Roman theater, is today the seat of the Archaeological and Ethnological Museum of Córdoba. The lineage is key to understanding the urban transformation of the city, having consolidated one of the most imposing noble residences in the historic center.
