Description from the seller
Handcrafted Hispano-Moorish Style Wall Mirror
General Description
Magnificent decorative wall mirror, handmade and hand-painted, following the Mudéjar aesthetic tradition and North African. The piece is designed as a miniature architectural structure, evoking the façade of a palace or a monumental gate from the Maghreb or historic Andalusia.
Artistic Details
Crest and Small Gable: The top features a pierced, dentiled pediment with floral motifs, followed by a slanted roof that simulates glazed ceramic tiles in forest green.
Frame and Arcade: The central mirror is framed by a polygonal arch typical of Islamic architecture, decorated with rich friezes of ataurique (vegetal motifs) in cream and terracotta tones.
Architectural Elements: Flanking the mirror are two fluted columns in relief, polychromed in gold and garnet, contributing three-dimensionality to the piece.
Base: The lower area shows a geometric fretwork frieze, a classic element of Islamic decorative art.
Technical Specifications
Material: Carved and polychromed wood, glass.
Technique: Manual carving and artisanal painting with an antiqued finish (intentional patina to enhance the rustic/antique character).
Condition: Excellent overall condition, with light signs of natural wear in the polychromy that reinforce its artisanal authenticity.
Style: Orientalist / Neo-Mudéjar / Moroccan
