Description from the seller
Elegant and iconic advertising poster “Cycles Sirius” signed S. Gray, an extraordinary example of early 20th-century French graphic design devoted to the world of bicycles.
Note: This is a later edition, probably from the 1970s.
The image depicts an allegorical female figure in Liberty style, dynamic and sensual, suspended in an ascending motion while she points to a bright star, a symbol of progress and modernity. The composition, on a dark background, enhances the contrast between deep black and the gold and ivory tones of the figure and the bicycle, creating a strong visual impact of great elegance.
At the top sits the inscription “Cycles Sirius,” while at the bottom there is the address “14 & 16, Rue Duret, Paris,” an element that gives historical charm and graphic authenticity to the original subject of the era.
A poster of strong decorative character, perfect for collectors of advertising posters, lovers of historical cycling, furnishings in industrial or retro style, and refined-taste environments.
