Original Han dynasty Chinese ceramic standing figure, 29 cm high, in plain earthenware with a long robe, clasped hands in front of the abdomen, minimal incised folds, a small head, weathered face, a bell-shaped base, and a surface showing age with no remaining pigments.
Description from the seller
This is a pottery standing figure in plain earthenware, characterized by a simple and unadorned form. The figure wears a long robe, with both hands positioned in front of the abdomen in a clasped gesture. The garment folds are rendered with minimal incised lines. The head is relatively small in proportion, and the facial features have been softened by weathering, leaving only the outline of the nose and mouth discernible. The base flares outward in a bell shape, providing stability to the figure. The surface shows traces of age and soil encrustation, with no remaining pigments or with the original paint completely worn away, imparting an austere and timeworn character typical of ancient burial mingqi.
Catawiki disclaimer: This object has been dated based on style by the seller . No further tests, such as, a TL test, lapidary tests, analysis of pigments or radiography scans have been conducted to check the integrity of the piece.
