Thorens TD166 MkII, manufactured in 1970, in very good physical condition and tested and operational, weighing 13 kg, includes power supply, with original tonearm and Shure M75-6S cartridge.
Description from the seller
Thorens TD 166 MkII - Excellent Aesthetics - 100% Original - Shure M75-6S Tonearm
Up for auction: a magnificent Thorens TD 166 MkII, a true icon of Swiss-German high-fidelity analog. This unit has been kept with manic care and is offered in a fully original configuration, ideal for the collector who seeks uncontaminated authenticity.
Strengths and Condition:
Stunning Aesthetics: The plinth is flawless and the dust cover is glossy, transparent, and free of haziness—a rare detail for a vintage item of this age.
Complete Mechanics: Equipped with the original Thorens tonearm with its original anti-skating weight (often missing over the years).
Quality Preamplifier: Fitted with a historic Shure M75-6S, renowned for its warm, musical, and typically analog timbre.
Preventive Solutions: The original hinges have been reinforced with 3D-printed supports to ensure durability and prevent the classic failure of the original design.
NOTE ON CONDITIONS AND WIRING (SALES CLAUSE):
The device is functional, but being a vintage item over 40 years old kept in original “no-mod” condition, the following is stated for maximum transparency:
Original Cables: The RCA and power cables are factory 1980s ones. I deliberately chose NOT to replace them to preserve the historical integrity of the piece.
Cable Condition: As with vintage components, the RCA cables can be sensitive to positioning or may buzz if moved. A simple cleaning of contacts or a revision may be required depending on the buyer’s preference.
Exclusion of Disputes: The lot is sold “as seen” as an original collectible piece. No claims will be accepted regarding the cosmetic or technical condition of the original cabling, which has been described and photographed clearly.
SUPER SAFE SHIPPING:
To avoid typical transport damage, I will use professional packaging. For maximum safety, the platter, belt, and weights will be dismantled and placed in a separate package inside the same box. Reassembly is extremely simple and intuitive. Because this is a delicate item, there are no disputes regarding transport damage or incorrect reassembly.
