Description from the seller
Madonna SEX, in very good condition with CD; see photos.
It is a book by the artist Madonna, published in 1992, featuring erotic photographs by Steven Meisel. It includes depictions of softcore pornography as well as sadomasochistic practices. The design was handled by designer Glenn O’Brien. The texts were written by Madonna.
The book’s release on October 21, 1992 occurred simultaneously with Madonna’s fifth studio album Erotica and caused a scandal due to its sexually explicit photos. Nevertheless, the book sold worldwide more than 1.5 million copies and was regarded at that time as the most successful coffee-table book of all time.
The large-format book has a spiral-bound metal cover made of brushed aluminum. The front is embossed with the title “SEX”; on the back, a parenthesized “X” is die-cut. Included is a CD with an unreleased version of Erotica, called Erotic. Attached to the book is an eight-page comic-style story: Dita in The Chelsea Girl.
The book was packaged in silver foil, featuring a stylized, light-blue image of Madonna. In Germany, the book was published by Heyne Verlag. Each copy of the book contains a stamped limited number on the back of the cover. The book was already sold out worldwide shortly after its release in September 1992.
