Neo-Gothic carved stone box – Romanesque relief decoration in bas-relief – Late 19th / Early 20th Century

Rare rectangular stone box carved, decorated with figurative bas-relief friezes depicting characters in medieval costumes.

The domed lid features a rich decoration of scrolls and floral medallions.

The whole evokes the sarcophagi and Romanesque chests of the 12th–13th centuries, in a neo-medieval style characteristic of the end of the 19th century.
