AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Beautiful, large and authentic Middle Paleolithic flint biface measuring 17.2 cm.
Originating from Yonne (89) in France.

A biface of fine workmanship with a substantial double patina.
It was flaked from a rather rough nodular piece of flint, which left a significant amount of cortex and, above all, a cavity on one side, making it a very atypical biface.
The tip is very fine and the edges are still sharp.
A very interesting piece that stands out from the ordinary.

Old inscription: "Les chataigniers Villecien 25-10-1988".

Length 17.2 cm.

Provenance: France, Yonne.
The lot comes from an old private collection.
