AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Very beautiful and authentic Neolithic wooden sheath made from cervid wood, originating from Switzerland. Cervid wooden sheaths appeared around 4200 BCE to haft small polished stone axes and, above all, to cushion the shocks of use. This type of sheath is found in lake-dwelling sites where such objects are very well preserved. A break in the piece caused by use has been restored long ago. You can see the traces of re-polishing of the axe around the circumference of the crown, which was polished at the same time as the axe. Dimensions at their largest: 6.5 cm × 6 cm × 3.5 cm. Provenance: Switzerland. The lot comes from an old private collection purchased at auction. Important information: The seller warrants that he is authorized to ship this lot. The seller will obtain the necessary authorizations. The seller will inform the buyer if this takes more than a few days.
