The Boardwalk with rolling chairs is a 1930 Zilvergelatinedruk by Fred Hess & Son, a United States cityscape print of Atlantic City measuring 19 × 24 cm and stamped, in good vintage condition.
Description from the seller
Fred Hess & Son. Atlantic City, New Jersey, [ca. 1930]. With description and notes in pencil on the reverse: "The Boardwalk between Hadden Hall (left) and entrance to Steel Pier (right). Unhired roller chairs on the right [=left!]. Hotel sun deck at top center", stamped 'Fred Hess & Son, 166 S. Virginia Ave in Atlantic City N.J.' (middle bottom) and 'North East Page 7 Copy 19 (top middle)'. With stamp and number on the plate (bottom left front).
Dimensions: 19 x 24 cm. plus margins. Good vintage condition, a few small tears in the white edge bottom left, not on the photo, small crease (top right corner).
The photographic agency Fred Hess & Son was active in Atlantic City from at least the 1920s to the 1950s and was based at 166 S. Virginia Avenue in Atlantic City. They specialized in documenting the city’s large hotels, commercial storefronts, conventions and events. Their work provides a comprehensive visual overview of Atlantic City.
