Description from the seller
Pair of handles for a seal stamp in 800 silver, stamped – Italy, early 20th century
Refined pair of handles for a seal stamp made of solid 800 silver, as confirmed by the mark present. The two pieces, both of notable artisanal craftsmanship, represent two different interpretations of the period's decorative style.
The objects feature refined floral motifs and scrolls in the Art Nouveau style, finely chased in relief. The decorations are different from one another, making the pair not identical but harmoniously matched, a typical feature of artisanal workmanship or of creatively reusing antique elements.
The flowing lines and the chased work highlight the silver's brilliance and testify to a high level of attention to detail.
Both handles are internally filled with mastice, as is traditional in antique workmanship, to confer solidity and a balanced weight. The bases are prepared to receive the matrix engraved in brass or hard stone, today absent, which in the past would have completed the personal or family seals.
Authentic and highly charming objects, ideal as desk accessories, for silver collectors or for enthusiasts of antique writing instruments.
