Description from the seller
Four beautiful and imposing solid brass candlesticks, notable for their shape which is different from the usual wooden ones covered in brass. They differ only in height: three are 40 cm tall and one is 36 cm, but with identical workmanship.
The base is tripod-shaped with three curved volutes like a triangle, and between one part and the other there is a cross on each side. The base measures 10 cm wide and 10 cm high. Elegantly worked into a triangle, it has a central cross. From here rises the candlestick, 23 cm tall, and at the center a fully worked cylinder divides the column of the candlestick into two parts to give movement and to remove the symmetry of the column. The entire candlestick is worked as if it were a rope. Then the upper part is cup-shaped, also a splendor because it is entirely chased with clover-like motifs at the base that surround it all around.
The entire candlestick is 40 cm tall. On top is the candle holder.
The fourth one differs from the preceding ones only in height, in fact it is 36 cm tall. In workmanship it is the same as the others. It has a tripod base 9 cm wide and 8 cm high. It is entirely chased with a central cross. From here rises the neck of the candlestick, 20 cm tall, also divided into two parts with an oval circle protruding, and on this is fitted the second part of the column of the candlestick.
This one’s column is also worked across like a rope.
The splendid final part where the lower portion is entirely chased with clovers, while the upper part has the candle holder.
They are in good condition, not say excellent, because they are centuries old. The brass shows only signs of time.
I do not like shiny metals and I have always had them cleaned at home while preserving that antique flavor.
Rare to find four candlesticks with the same motif, even if one is of a different size. But placing them side by side, there is movement. And the difference is minimal.
They have dual uses as the decorative items, or to be placed on either side of a clock, to illuminate an important table with lit candles, or to create an atmosphere in a house with candles resting on furniture.
They formed part of the family chapel furnishings. If desired, they can be made even more polished, but I prefer the originality of the object from which the past shines through.
As I said, they have dual uses also as a pair of lamps with lampshades or small fans, using them as light sources.
They fit with a classical or modern interior.
Given their simplicity of workmanship, they are splendid in the terminal part with a circle entirely chased from the bottom all around with clovers.
Each has its own candle holder.
My ancestors considered the house a business card and loved constantly changing the furnishings, hence the variety of objects.
For shipping I use private couriers rather than the post, because the item arrives sooner and the packaging communication is simpler.
The candlesticks are numerous, which is why the costs will be high. They will be packed with thousands of bubbles and sponge and placed in a box.
Costs vary depending on whether it is Europe in band one or two, such as the United Kingdom, Switzerland, and Eastern European countries, or band three such as Norway, Malta, Cyprus, and the rest of the world.
Customs duties will be borne by the buyer.
