Lacquerware Ensemble – Bridal Container & Decorative Boxes – Mid 20th Century
Attractive Asian lacquerware ensemble consisting of three traditional hand-crafted storage containers.
The lot includes:
• A red and black stacked bridal container with handle, richly decorated with gilt floral motifs
• A round black lacquer box with woven bamboo lid panel
• A cylindrical lidded container encased in handwoven rattan framework
The red and black bridal container represents a traditional wedding storage form, used for personal belongings or ceremonial gifts. The layered construction and carry handle reflect classic Southeast Asian design.
All pieces are hand-lacquered and decorated with gold floral motifs. The combination of lacquer techniques with bamboo and rattan weaving highlights traditional craftsmanship.
