Description from the seller

Ancient Ngulu knife from the Ngombe Doko Ngbaka tribe of Congo origin, late 19th to early 20th century.

With similarities to the khepesh of ancient Egypt, it also features a heavier iron blade and a sharpened edge on one side. The wooden handle, without a guard, is wrapped with copper wires and ends in a pair of large knobs.
It was used for beheadings. After the prohibition of these executions at the end of the 19th century, the object gained greater symbolic value.
