AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Circa 1870, 19x24 cm.
"Tree of the Virgin, Egypt", a very beautiful portrait attributed to Pascal Sebah (19th century).
Superb albumen print from the period, in very good condition, free (not mounted, rare), and with a very nice preservation of contrasts, grayscale tones and levels of detail.
Labeled by hand (caption erroneous as it is indeed the Tree of the Virgin) on the back.

Pascal (P.) Sebah is one of the great photographers active in Constantinople in the second half of the 19th century. His studio, located in the heart of the city, quickly became a reference for travelers and diplomats seeking images of the Ottoman Empire and Egypt.
Sebah produced portraits, "types" scenes and monumental views with great technical mastery and meticulous staging.

Small PR conservatoire, not to be missed.

Will be shipped with its sleeve and its neutral pH cardboard support (ideal for a collection in good condition).
