AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Circa 1880, 19x26 cm.
"Souk de Tunis", a very beautiful portrait attributed to Jean Garrigues (19th).
Superb albumen print from the period, in very good condition, loose (not mounted, rare), and a very beautiful preservation of contrasts, shades of gray and levels of detail.

Jean Garrigues was active in Tunisia at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century, in a context of photographic growth linked to the protectorate and the development of tourism. Photographer and publisher, he produced urban views, scenes of life and portraits distributed as prints and postcards.
His work is characterized by a clear light and a clear composition, attentive to architectures, markets and local figures, through a production that is both documentary and commercial.

Petit PR conservatoire, not to be missed.

Will be shipped with its sleeve and its neutral pH cardboard support.
