Description from the seller

Calice, patène and vermeil silver spoon – France, 19th century - Neo-Gothic

Important liturgical chalice in vermeil silver with its paten, kept in its original case, accompanied by the liturgical spoon.

The chalice features an interior cup fully gilded for Eucharistic use. The false cup is richly decorated with engraved and openwork fleur-de-lis, alternating with framed medallions depicting angels in prayer.

The poly-lobed foot, finely chased, repeats this heraldic and floral decor, punctuated by religious medallions and edged with beaded friezes.
The central knot, clearly defined, facilitates gripping during celebration.

The matching paten, also in vermeil silver, is adorned at the center with a radiant IHS, the traditional Christic symbol.

Characteristic ensemble of French liturgical production from the 19th century, in a Neo-Gothic / Neo-Medieval style, highly appreciated for church furniture of this period.

Presence of the liturgical spoon intended for adding wine and water during the preparation of the chalice.

Visible hallmarks indicate:
• Minerva head hallmark: French guarantee for silver of the first rank (950/1000), used since 1838.
• Goldsmith’s mark: diamond-shaped containing initials and symbol (partially readable in the photos), not identifiable with certainty

The ensemble has undergone a complete restoration at the Mertens Chocat house in Brussels. It is in very good condition, nearly like new. The interior gilding is well preserved.
The old presentation case is present and in very good condition

The photos are an integral part of the object description and complement its presentation. Please examine them carefully before any purchase commitment.

The item will be carefully packed and shipped with a tracking number to ensure fast and secure delivery.
