Interchangeable Lenses: Used the Leica screw mount (LTM - Leica Thread Mount) 39mm, with standard optics often Summar 50mm f/2.0

Finish and Body: Robust metal body with chrome finish and vulcanite covering.

Construction: Oscillating prism rangefinder, direct viewfinder, frame counter and knob-wind.

Compactness: Ergonomic design, intended for hand-held photography, allowing rapid shooting without a tripod.

In 1936, the Leica system was already widely recognized for high image quality and portability, representing the standard for photojournalism of the era. They were not equipped with an integrated light meter, requiring the use of external light meters or light estimation.
