Description from the seller

Democratic Republic of the Congo - DRC
Kongo Vili culture
Tree bark baskets, bones, monkey skull, magical elements.
H.23cm - L.42cm

What a presence this ancient reliquary from the Democratic Republic of the Congo exudes. It is composed of a basket made from tree bark filled with bones, magical elements, and the skull of a large monkey. The composition is striking; there is a haunting presence that emanates from this piece. It is a powerful and atypical object. Beautiful old patina. Sold as seen, see photos. A beautiful piece of antique and authentic collection. Circa 1950.
