Description from the seller

Saint bishop – carved wood – Southern Netherlands / Flanders – second half of the 18th century

Professionally shipped – more than 900 five-star reviews worldwide.

Carved wooden statue of a holy bishop with a mitre. A devotional sculpture in the Baroque tradition, probably originating from the Southern Netherlands or Flanders. Such statues were part of church interiors or chapels.

The carving is sober and clearly aimed at a frontal presentation, with a calm posture and a blessing gesture. Remnants of the original polychromy and gilding are still visible on various parts of the robe and the mitre.

Height approx. 49 cm; signs of wear, old wormholes, cracks in the wood and losses to the mitre and the book.

Please look closely at the photos, they are part of the description.

Shipped with track & trace.
