Luka Stepan designed the Polygon modular bookcase in walnut, manufactured in the Netherlands, dating to 1960–1970, with dimensions 139 cm wide, 146 cm high and 32 cm deep, in good condition with small signs of aging.
Description from the seller
This is a striking modular honeycomb bookcase that blends mid-century modern aesthetics with contemporary geometric design. It features a series of interlocking, hexagonal compartments crafted from bent plywood with a warm walnut or oak veneer.
Key Design Features
• Geometric Silhouette: The "beehive" or honeycomb structure provides a repeating pattern that is visually captivating from every angle.
• Modular Construction: The unit is composed of identical S-shaped bentwood components. These are stacked and bolted together (visible via the hardware on the flat edges) to create the overall structure.
• Material: It showcases high-quality layered plywood, with the exposed "sandwich" edges providing a nice contrast to the smooth wood grain of the faces.
• Open-Back Concept: The lack of a back panel makes it an excellent choice for a room divider, as it allows light to pass through and remains accessible from both sides.
Style & Versatility
Because of its organic curves and sculptural look, this piece functions as much as art as it does furniture. It’s ideal for displaying curated items like books, small plants, or ceramics without overwhelming a room.
