Torino'90 by William Klein, signed on the title page, is a hardback photography book published by Federico Motta Editore (Milan) in 1990, 176 pages in Italian with about 75 black-and-white double-page photographs in large format (48 x 34 cm), size 35 x 25 cm, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Rarest exceptionally signed by William Klein on the title page and in perfect condition. 176 pages and about 75 black-and-white photographs printed on large-format double-page spreads (48 x 34 cm). Publisher's black cloth binding with the title embossed in white on the spine, endpapers with double-page photographs as well, and an illustrated dust jacket. In excellent condition.
Immersed in the crowd of spectators, elbow to elbow with the people who crowd into stadiums or on the streets, William Klein has managed to render these striking images while ensuring their perfect composition. His frontal position relative to the subject, the fact of appearing clearly, camera in hand, creates a special relationship between the photographer and the photographed subject who sometimes performs in front of the lens but more often remains perfectly natural. The resulting images are the product and trace of a collective representation of which the photographer was at once the witness and one of the protagonists (according to Giovanni Chiaramonte’s text). Texts in Italian by Guy Mandery and Giovanni Chiaramonte.
William Klein oversaw the selection of the photographs and the layout in extremely short deadlines just after the event, and the work was printed in October 1990 while the championship took place in July–August.
The start of this championship was marked by a notable event as Argentina, the defending champions, played the opening match of this 1990 edition with Maradona starring against Cameroon, and the competition offered an early surprise with the Cameroonians’ victory. Cameroon even became the first African nation to subsequently qualify for the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Book from my personal collection, in excellent condition (like new), kept with the utmost care. Very effectively protected shipping and guaranteed international postal tracking. For multiple purchases, group shipping is possible with reimbursement of any excess postage paid via PayPal.
