Description from the seller
Elegant antique folding lorgnette in 800 silver, a refined optical accessory dating approximately to the late 19th – early 20th century. Lorgnettes were widely used by the European bourgeoisie and aristocracy as both practical vision aids and stylish personal accessories.
This example features a solid 800 silver structure with a long handle decorated with subtle turned moldings that give the piece a balanced and elegant appearance. The optical section consists of two circular lenses mounted on a hinged folding frame, typical of portable lorgnettes of the period.
The end of the handle terminates in a ring designed for a chain or ribbon, allowing the lorgnette to be worn around the neck or attached to clothing.
The silver shows a natural patina consistent with age, highlighting the authenticity and historical charm of the piece.
An object combining function, craftsmanship and collectible value, ideal for collectors of antique optical instruments, silverware or historical curiosities.
