A piece of Mercedes-Benz history. Official/original factory drawing of the 300 SL. This is the official document for the model's market launch in 1954. The first units would not begin deliveries to customers until 1955.
The Mercedes 300 SL "GullWing" is an automotive icon of the 1950s. It is considered the first supercar in history, notable for its revolutionary vertical-opening doors, a technical necessity derived from its tubular chassis. Its inline six-cylinder direct injection engine made it a benchmark of technology and performance of the era. Presented in 1954, this competition-derived model is a symbol of innovation, luxury, and timeless design.
