Chair - Ponteuse - Vowel - Wood

Elaborately hand-carved chair from France, 19th century. From the late 19th century with a top rail and a leather-upholstered seat decorated with nailhead trim. The front, with an accurately crafted design, centers on a carved lion sculpture. The frame is made with carved tendrils and foliate decorations, the original sprung seat base, upholstered in leather. Its two furry claws grip, turning the front legs forward and the rear ones.
