Columbia Viva-tonal Grafonola Model 214 Portable Gramophone – 1920s – Working
Vintage Columbia Viva-tonal Grafonola portable gramophone, Model 214, produced in the late 1920s to early 1930s by the Columbia Graphophone Company.
This mechanical gramophone is fitted with the original winding mechanism and has been tested and is in working condition. The turntable rotates smoothly and the sound reproduction is typical of early acoustic gramophones.
The interior retains the original Columbia manufacturer plate showing the model number and serial number.
Portable gramophones of this type were popular during the 1920s and 1930s and were designed for convenient transport and home listening without electricity.
The gramophone shows signs of age and use consistent with a vintage item.
