This is a Russian Orthodox icon of four saints, probably from the 18th–19th century, painted in egg tempera on a panel with a gilded background. The composition is divided into four panels with a central black cross organizing the figures.

Top left

Christ Pantocrator (ΙC XC).

Recognizable by:

The cruciform halo.

The inscription IC XC.

The Gospel in the left hand and the blessing with the right.

Top right

Saint Nicholas of Myra (ΝΙΚΟΛΑΟΣ or abbreviation in Greek/Slavonic).

Typical features:

Bishop with omophorion.

Gospel in the hand.

Elongated face with a short beard.

Bottom left

Saint Anastasia (probably Anastasia the Roman / Anastasia Pharmakolytria).

Indicators:

White veil.

Martyr’s cross in the hand.

Bottom right

Saint Paraskeva (Parascheva / Pyatnitsa).

Very common in Russian icons.

She usually carries:

Martyr’s cross.

Scroll or small reliquary (symbol of faith or healing).

Technical characteristics

Egg tempera on levkas (gesso).

Gold background.

Frame painted in dark red, typical of Russia.

Provincial Russian style, possibly from a popular workshop.
