Description from the seller

Heraldic cavetto from a large parade plate in polychrome tin glaze – 17th century
Refined central cavetto from an important 17th‑century parade plate, made in high‑quality polychrome tin glaze, enriched by a hand-painted noble heraldic coat of arms.
The element features a complex and richly articulated coat of arms, with a shield shaped and framed by baroque volutes, upper crest, and foliate decorations, executed with a confident hand and still vivid chromatics. The heraldic field depicts a rampant lion accompanied by a star, symbols of clear noble lineage, likely tied to a Roman noble house, also considering its provenance from a historic Roman villa.
At a later time, after the breakage of the large original plate, the cavetto was recovered and mounted on a wall support via a metallic structure, a historical solution often adopted to preserve and enhance valuable heraldic elements.
The piece has been re-glued, as visible on the back, but is perfectly stable, solid, and suitable for display, preserving its strong decorative impact and the charm of the era.
The painting quality, the assured stroke, and the elegance of the composition make this object a meaningful testament to the heraldic and ceramic culture of the Seicento (17th century), ideal for collectors, scholars, or to be placed in interiors with character, studies, or historical art collections.
