These are brass hearth bocks / fire dogs (andirons). The wood sits on the horizontal rods so air can flow underneath and it burns better.

Period

The shape gives a good clue:

Features I see:
• Twisted balusters (cylinder-like intermediate pieces)
• Globular end knobs
• Hexagonal joints
• Clean, fairly symmetrical form without heavy ornamentation

This type was produced widely in Western Europe (often England or the Netherlands) in the period:

ca. 1880 – 1920

So they appear late Victorian / early 20th century. They are probably cast brass with twisted components – typical for that era
